Here’s a peek at some spec work I’ve been doing recently, as I build my freelance portfolio. I shot the photos below for a stylish new coffee shop in south Austin, called Seventh Flag Coffee.

Seventh Flag is located in a super trendy area of town, near the Vuka coworking space and the food trailers at South 1st and Monroe. I wanted my photos to communicate the geography of the shop, as well as its spacious, sanctuary-like interior, and the careful attention to detail they pay in their coffee-making. The existing brand assets for the shop– namely the black & white flag design and vintage typography– influenced my process for editing the photos. I desaturated them slightly to maintain a vintage feel, and to emphasize the black, white, and latte tones in the images.
